Photo slideshows - PTE software

These slideshows have been "zipped" to reduce the download size. Once downloaded, unzip the folder and run the .exe file. The slideshows can be ended by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard. The left & right arrow keys on your keyboard allow the viewer to scroll ahead or back.

PTE software has evolved over the past year. We can now build our shows in a much higher resolution (eg 1920x1200) and "lock" the aspect ratio so that the image quality remains high no matter what size monitor the viewer has or the resolution of that monitor. I have no plans at this time to redo any of the earlier shows.

Apple/Mac users can now view PTE shows but only if the creator configures the finished show for the Mac platform. I have only configured 1 show at this point "A Portrait Album". There is a viewing condition however;  the computer must be a newer Mac with the Intel chip.

We've introduced a new style of show that simulates a photo album. They can be built using traditional timed transitions or allow the end viewer to turn the pages manually.

For further help please view my PDF help guide. Enjoy

Recreated in PTE Version 6.0

An earlier rendition of this kayak trip was created a couple of years ago. I thought the images could benefit from a redo in the latest version of PTE. The images are much larger with an aspect ratio of 16x9. I've also added a large number of photos that were not included in the original show. The file is large and may take a few minutes to download.

In the summer of 2008 a group of kayakers explored the Broughton Archipelago located north of BC's Sunshine Coast. Weather proved to be a challenge and fog made navigation difficult at times. Thank God for GPS.

This slideshow is a new version of one uploaded a few months ago. I was never really happy with the earlier version even though I uploaded it for all to see. I think I was just frustrated because it wasn't coming together like I wanted. I'm much happier with this new show.

My original idea was to create a show that one could get lost in the images, music and transitions - sort of hypnotic. I've created several "3RD" images for some interesting transitions. PTE is all about the transition capabilities. The aspect ratio is 16x9 or 1920x1080 pixels. I chose this so that my HD TV screen will be filled entirely when I convert this PTE file to a high resolution video (not to be confused with high definition).

I hope you find this to be a relaxing experience, enjoy.

My obsession with these designs continues. I find that when I get bored with a project but don't want to leave the computer, I just open the fractal software and get going. Sometimes after a few hours I may get lucky with an interesting design but there are many other times where hours of browsing prove fruitless.

I came across a site a while back that had a real neat background for car images. I inquired just how the effect was created. I was lead to a site where I could down load free software (Apophysis). This software uses mathematical equations to make random designs. There is not a lot of instruction, you just have to play and experiment with the tools. The designs are chaotic and colorful.

This was a one week jaunt to jolly ole' England to see friends who lived very close to the Cotswolds and to also take in the one and only Wimbledon Grand Slam event. It was a fantastic mix of sights and sounds in Britain, including the many sirens going off in London due to recent bomb attempts!!

We first touched down in Rome and were gobsmacked by the city's massive ruins. We trekked the rainy streets for two days straight and saw amazing sights like the Vatican + museum, Colloseum, Navona Piazza, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and St.Mary's Cathedral just to name a few. Then off to the sunshine in Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri and Positano. Glorious trip with the two of us constantly pinching ourselves to make sure it's wasn't a dream!

My daughter owns a hair salon. She took on a project suggested in a beauty magazine. The challenge was to take a client and give her the works - hair makeover along with makeup and wardrobe. We then took a series of photos and submitted them for judging in a contest in New York. The judging criteria was on hair style, color, and makeup. This Japanese girl was only 15 years old at the time. The transformation was nothing less than incredible.

There were thousands of entries into this contest, this girl came in second overall.

my first pte show

Aug. 2006

In the early summer of 2006 I stumbled onto Barry Beckham's website (beckhamdigital.co.uk) and learned of Pictures to Exe (PTE), slideshow software. I was blown away by a few of the demos on the beckham site. I purchased the software directly from the site plus a few tutorials. This show has no animation due to those features were added in a later upgrade version of the software a few months after I built this show. Although this is my first attemp at a short simple layout, I think it turned out well. One thing is for sure, I'm hooked!!
